Brick House Tavern & Tap- Neptune, NJ

Unless you’re eating a salad, Brick House Tavern and Tap makes Applebees look like fine dining. While the atmosphere is cool, and the location by the outlets is justified, the food quality makes it a place not worth spending money at unless you’re drinking at the bar with your friends.
Look, I can get good French fries in a lot of establishments. I am looking for more than that when I dine. We hold each restaurant to the same standard. There are places that fall in this genre of venues that I would rate higher, such as Brickwall in Asbury, but Brick House Tavern and Tap falls a little short of a place I would visit multiple times.
They offer a large variety of beers (not as much as Biergarten in Asbury) but enough to keep beer enthusiasts satisfied. Cocktail list is good as well. No problems with the bar! The potential issue lies with the food.
I’ve been here multiple times and have not been thrilled. Starting with appetizers, Paul and I have gotten the duck wings, house baked soft pretzels, and tavern wings. The tavern wings were tasty, typical bar food. The soft pretzels were good as well. The dipping options were great, queso, mustard, and a sirracha dipping sauce. The duck wings were disgustingly greasy and fried. We wrapped them to take home and ended up throwing them out. As I mentioned earlier, salads are good. The filet mignon salad is great and hits the spot. Thai chicken salad is pretty good as well; it was nothing gourmet but hit the spot and the peanut sauce mixed with the lime-honey vinaigrette was pleasing to the palette. Paul got a regular burger and hated it. The burger was put on a long, sub like bun and it was over cooked. He took two bites and left it on the plate. Atleast the French fries were good, right…? The grilled cheese and tomato soup is also tasty, but honestly anything above the scope of normal bar food is less than appealing. When just looking at their “normal bar food,” it is just mediocre. I have had better!
Atmosphere is fun. I love the touch of all the fireplaces around, and I also like the patio area that is covered, but you can see outside. The place is cozy and casual. The bar area is fun to hang out at. I think the atmosphere is the best thing about this place!
Customer service is just OK. Service tends to be on the slower side most of the time. Everyone seems friendly and atleast all the servers have been pleasant in my experiences.
Brick House Tavern and Tap is a cool bar to hang out at with some friends or maybe even for a snack and drinks. The fireplaces add such a cozy, nice touch. As far as dinner, I rather go to Brickwall in Asbury Park for the same genre of food, but better quality.
