Meemom’s- Wall, NJ

Meemom’s is in the Kmart plaza in Wall… That does not sound too appealing, but do not be fooled! This place is a hidden gem and a must try for breakfast and lunch. I will go out on a limb and say that I think they would be in the running for best French toast at the Jersey Shore! And even if you don’t like French toast, their diverse menu is enough satisfy any hunger needs. We love Meemom’s!
After a year of wanting to try this fairly new spot, we finally did and it was worth it. This will definitely be one of my regular breakfast spots. The menu has everything from pancakes, French toast, omelettes, wraps, and paninis to special coffees and teas. We wanted to get a taste of everything so we ordered a wide variety of foods. The special soup of the day was buffalo chicken so Paul ordered that. It had an abundance of shredded chicken and the perfect balance of a buffalo taste. We also split the apple pie French toast. This was my favorite. I would argue they make one of the best French toasts on the shore! If anyone has a better place in mind, I’d be willing to hear it though! They serve the thick cut French toast at Meemom’s. Thick French toast right off the bat makes my mouth water. It is so much more substantial than thin French toast. However, that is just my opinion. In addition to the thick cut bread, the taste was just unbelievable. It is topped with homemade cinnamon mascarpone, streusel topping, caramel cinnamon apples, powdered sugar, and vanilla & caramel drizzle. I can’t stress enough how much I enjoyed this! They have a lot of really unique French toasts on their menu to order from including the birthday cake, twix, and aw-berry. It depends on what you like and what you’re in the mood for!
The breakfast quesadilla was also great. It had scrambled eggs, peppers, onions, bacon & cheddar jack inside a whole wheat tortilla, served with “spuds” (potatoes), sour cream & homemade salsa. The quesadillas were thick and substantial, but not too thick to where they were falling apart.
I also ordered the marathon wrap, which came from the fit zone portion of the menu. The wrap consisted of egg whites, avocado, tomato & turkey bacon wrapped up in a warm whole wheat tortilla & served with a fresh fruit cup & homemade salsa. It was good especially with a little hot sauce added on to it. Let’s be real though… if it comes off a “fit” menu, it is not going to be as rich and marvelous as something smothered in unhealthy ingredients. Plus I had to save some room for that French toast! But I did enjoy the marathon wrap and don’t regret getting it. Paul also got the El Matador. I know what you’re thinking, “How much food did they eat?” We need to have a wide scope when writing these reviews so we definitely rolled out of the place. Anyway, the El Matador is homemade sweet potato hash mixed with chorizo sausage & topped with two sunny side up eggs, homemade pico de gallo & avocado, served with sour cream & a choice of toast. The avocados were perfect. The sweet potato hash was unique, something you don’t see everywhere. All the flavors complimented eachother very well. The servings were large and generous for all dishes; amazing portions for the prices! I loved every minute of breakfast.
The atmosphere is very cute. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but they definitely utilized the space well without making their customers feel too cramped. The bar at the front is a nice little spot for someone coming in to just have a coffee or quick breakfast. The white booths in the back added a nice touch to the ambiance as well as the awesome trinkets in the front of the store.
Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Service was quick considering how packed the restaurant was. Whatever you asked for, the waiter brought it out promptly, always with a smile. And the prices here are insanely fair and cheap for the amount and quality of food you receive.
The bottom line is that Meemom’s is a hit! People are starting to figure out that this spot is a gem, hence the line of people waiting when we left. It has only been open about a year and a half, but I can tell you that this place is here to stay! Thanks for the great breakfast Meemom’s!
